
Women's Wellness Institute is a labor of love for the Founder and CEO Dr. Carol Labor (Dr. Carol). With lived experiences of complex trauma, treatment resistant major depression, etc., she has found her purpose in increasing accessibility and availability of mental health and wellness support services for women and girls globally.
Dr. Carol is global mental health expert and advocate with experience in both high-income and low-to-middle income countries (LMIC). She serves as the Vice-Chair of Africa CDC’s High-Level Advisory Committee on NCDs and Mental Health, expert member of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Mental Health, Neurodevelopment and Substance Use Disorders (STAG)MNS), Board member of African Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a Rotarian.
Dr. Carol has over 3 decades of people -centered expertise in the United States and the Global South. As a MHPSS Practitioner, she pioneers multisectoral wellness programs and conducts impactful research at the intersection of gender, mental health, and trauma.
Dr. Carol uses a trauma-informed
pedagogy to design scalable interventions that support the mental wellbeing of vulnerable populations inclusive of Black women and girls; the disabled, Black women and girls living with HIV; and survivors of SGBV. Dr. Carol's global reach includes women and girls from countries including, but not limited to Sierra Leone, Liberia, Haiti, Ghana, Turkey, Syria, China, Jamaica, Mexico, Iraq, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, England, and the United States.
